Free Distribution of Two Million Trees
Pandit Shamrao Mane, a resident of Kerle village in Karvir taluka, is a passionate advocate for tree plantation, driven by his deep love for nature. Despite facing financial hardships, with a monthly income of Rs. 10,000, he has dedicated the last four years to restoring the diminishing greenery around his village.
Though not formally educated beyond 10th grade, Pandit took it upon himself to collect seeds of various trees, such as Subabhal, Chincha, and Vilayati Chincha, and began planting them in 2000. He has successfully distributed over 6,000 seedlings, and more than 3,000 have survived thanks to the community's support.
Through his association with Nisargamitra Sanstha, he learned scientific methods of sapling planting. His commitment to water conservation through tree plantation has led him to prepare 12,000 saplings this year.
Pandit encourages people to understand the value of trees and urges them to contribute towards their preservation, emphasizing the importance of trees in sustaining the environment.
